OUR LESSON PROGRAM

Manito's year round lesson program concentrate on safe and thorough instruction for students interested in dressage, hunt seat, western, or recreational riding. Every discipline is taught with an emphasis on the balanced seat. We have three riding instructors on staff, each one bringing their own diverse and knowledgeable background to the lesson program. Manito's unique approach to instruction includes teaching the basics of horse care, safety, and stable management in addition to riding. Our goal is to help all of our students become not only wonderful riders, but also well rounded, accomplished equestrians. Our lessons are taught in the ring, out in our expansive fields, and on the trails. Our program is designed to build self confidence and self esteem in our students, and (most of all) to have fun!

Some Commonly Asked Questions:

Q) Do I need my own horse to take lessons?
A) No you do not! Here at Manito we have eleven wonderful lesson horses, ranging in suitability from beginner to advanced, dressage to jumping. Some of our lesson students do have their own horses which they are, of course, allowed and encouraged to ride in their lessons.

Q) What equipment do I need to start lessons?
A) You will need an ASTM-SEI certified helmet (which we have on site in our tack shop), sturdy boots with a heel, and long pants.

Q) What if I have never ridden before?
A) Then now is a great time to start! Heidi and Devin, two of our riding instructors, specialize in teaching beginner riders whether they are children or adults. You will learn from the ground up how to lead a horse correctly, groom, tack up, and ride all in a fun, safe atmosphere.

Q) How old do you have to be to start riding lessons?
A) We start teaching children as young as three years old with the goal being to familiarize them with horses early on. You are never too young or too old to develop a love for horses!

Q) Will I be able to show at Manito?
A) Yes! We offer on site shows throughout the year that cater to all levels of riding. Starting in November, we will be hosting a show series that will go all winter long with year end awards. In the summer we will be taking some of our intermediate and advanced riders to local shows off site. We also have a dressage team that meets twice a month and are in the beginning stages of starting a jumping team.

Q) How do I sign up?

A) If you are interested in taking lessons with us, please call Lisa at (610)433-3707 to set up your first evaluation lesson or to simply take a tour of the facility and meet our riding instructors. We look forward to meeting you!!

LEASE PROGRAM

Leasing is a wonderful option for riders not ready to own a horse, or for those wanting to spend some time getting to know that special horse before they buy. Leasing allows the student to ride twice a week and also reserves that horse for their weekly scheduled lesson. Students who lease can spend quality time with their horse the remainder of the week. Manito provides all tack and supplies for the horse.

$200/Month for 2 practice rides per week.
